The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Award also known as OSCARS has been embroiled in controversies following the public declaration by Jada Pinkett Smith that she wont be attending this year's award ceremony.A whole lot of Hollywood stars have now joined the boycott in protest of the absence of minorities among the nominees including husband Will Smith who also describe the lack of representation among the acting nominees as unfair. "We're part of this community but at this current time, we're uncomfortable to stand there and say that this is OK," Smith said."
This is the second OSCARS in a row without a black actor as nominee, prompting the now trending hash tag #OscarsSoWhite.
The award was first presented in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
