EKITI 2014: Bimidele's Ambition Set To Be Over As ACN Backs Fayemi

Report has it that the Action Congress of Nigeria’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, have in a strategic tactical move, put to bed the governorship ambition of Opeyemi Bamidele in 2014.\

Quoting reliable sources, the report said that the party leaders, asked Bamidele to momentarily drop his ambition at a meeting held at Jibowu Hall inside the Ekiti Government House on Wednesday.
Bamidele curiously, was not present at the meeting which was held to resolve an intra-party impasse as well as position the ACN in the lead up to the 2014 governorship poll.

 There has been a cold war between the supporters of Bamidele and the incumbent, Governor Kayode Fayemi. From all indications, it now seems that the intervention of the party’s top guns has made it near impossible for the former to contest, at least on the platform of the ruling party.
Bamidele has in the past, insisted that he would publicly announce his political intentions when the moratorium on political activities is lifted by INEC.

At the meeting, Tinubu is said to have openly asked Fayemi to go ahead and seek reelection “because he had done very well.”
“Fayemi will go for second term and he would win. We will come back for the official endorsement later. Have I ever collected any contract from you? Tell them now if I have ever gotten any contract from here,” Tinubu was quoted to have said.

He also warned members of Fayemi’s cabinet against fomenting strife within the party, saying that everyone must work together for the unity of the party.
The major conundrum that arises from all these is this. Will Bamidele do the bidding of his party? Or are we in for yet another leadership tussle?
