OYO 2015: Ladoja, Alao-Akala set up 10-member committee

Ahead of the 2015 general election in Oyo State, two former governors of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja and Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala have set up a joint committee of 10.

The constitution of the committee, the Nigerian Tribune gathered, formed part of the discussion held behind closed-doors by the ex-governors at a meeting in Ladoja’s Bodija residence, last Saturday.

Nigerian Tribune can authoritatively report that members of the committee include Accord Party chairman in the state, Alhaji Bashir Lawal; a former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Dele Adigun;  National Secretary of Accord Party, Alhaji Nureni Adisa and a former Speaker, Honourable Adeolu Adeleke.

Some of the nominees by Alao-Akala on the committee are Mrs Kemi Jayeola, former deputy chief of staff, Alhaji Rasaq Gbadegesin and others.
It was gathered that part of the terms of reference of the 10-member committee included harmonising positions of the two former governors on some issues concerning the next general election.

The committee, it was learnt, would be given freedom to come up with recommendations that would strengthen the synergy between Ladoja and Alao-Akala.
It was further gathered that loyalists of the duo had been embracing one another as members of the same political fraternity, from Ogbomosho to Oke-Ogun, Ibadan and other geo-political zones of the state.

The two former governors are billed to publicly make a declaration on their working agreement in early June and thereafter begin preparations for the coming election.
