It may be a mansion fit for a queen of pop, but Beyonce Knowles is rumoured to be splashing out $5.9 million on a palatial Houston home for her mother Tina.

The 31-year-old singer, who was brought up in the Texan city, is reported to be close to finalising a deal on the six bedroom, 16 bathroom mansion. Located in the prestigious Piney Point village, the home is reported to have been reduced from an asking price of $20 million just three years ago.

The ornate Master Suite is decorated using a largely neutral colour scheme with antique plaster reliefs set into the wall facing the marble fireplace. It features two walk in closets, a built in coffee bar, granite floors with a warming system and a double entry steam shower with five shower heads. There will be plenty of room for Beyonce and husband Jay-Z to park their plush vehicles when they visit, with a four car garage on the property.

The couple will be able to bring daughter Blue Ivy to the sumptuous guest suite which features a staircase to its private second-story living room with a fireplace and balcony. It will also be a breeze for Tina to entertain guests, with plenty of seating in the large dining room and en elegant patio for visitors to dine al fresco. There are even servant quarters with two separate apartments including a bedroom and private bath.

Fashion designer Tina, who with her daughter founded family label House of Dereon, last year sold her smaller Texan home for $2,962,500. Tina’s pad was on the market for nine months with no potential buyers before the 8,885-square-foot home was purchased in the summer. Tina split from Beyonce’s father, record label executive Matthew back in 2011.
